Ecotilt is the only energy rated window system available to the whole of the timber window market

The Ecotilt™ System is the latest product from the Window Systems Division at Mighton Products, industry leader in the design, manufacture and supply of Traditional and Modern Sash Window Hardware.

Ecotilt™ is unique to the world with an Energy Rating of 'A','B' & 'C' (depending on specification). No other timber sash window system has acheived this. In the face of global warming, our development process has been focused on energy efficiency. Ecotilt™ is the way forward, conserving energy to keep you warm.

The PVCu industry is well ahead of the Timber industry in recognising Energy Ratings as a powerful selling tool. Ecotilt™ is the only Energy Rated window system available to the whole of the Timber Window Market.

Architects are increasingly specifying windows with a rating that must be 'C' or better. Indeed, the Energy Savings Trust only sponsors windows of this high standard. Up to now this has not been possible with timber sash windows.

From a security perspective, Ecotilt™ is the only timber sash window system to have passed BS7950 Enhanced Security for Windows.

What's the advantage?

Energy labels can already be found on all types of household goods. The labels allow buyers to compare and select products based on their specific energy performance rather than on manufacturers claimed values.

Only window manufacturers who successfully complete the BFRC certification process are able to use the label.

The high 'B' and 'C' Rating of Ecotilt™ is an assurance for homeowners and specifiers who recognise the benefits of saving precious resources.

BS 7950 Advanced Security for Windows

BS 7950 Advanced Security for Windows is the Holy Grail for window manufacturers and has never before been associated with timber sash windows.

Stringent tests have to be implemented to gain the accreditation but the end result is a certified window with the most trusted levels of security possible.

Architects and consumers can now specify Ecotilt™ or Ecotilt-secure™. With the additional 7950 kit an Ecotilt-secure™ window system gives the best protection ever achieved by a timber sash window.

  • BS 7950 Enhanced Security For Windows
  • BS 6375-1:2004 Performance of windows. Classification for weather tightness.
  • BS 6375-2:1987 Performance of windows. Specification for operation and strength characteristics.

In passing the standard with a timber sliding sash window, Mighton has in one stroke shattered the somewhat defeatist view in the industry, that timber windows are not capable of meeting today's standards. It is very much to Mike Derham's credit that he refused to accept that it wasn't possible. He has a keen eye for innovation and design and he and his team went back to the drawing board to address the specific issues presented by this type of window. Mighton has invested two years of research and development to manufacture what is proven to be a first-class, robust product, and Chiltern Dynamics was proud to work with the Mighton team.

Maintenance

maintenanceMaintaining sash windows and adjusting balances has in the past been tricky and time consuming. Ecotilt™ windows are supplied with Mighton Assisted Lift™ Balances as standard giving up to 70% assistance to overcome the inertia of the sash. Fitted to these are our patented Ultrashoe™ which brings a new dimension to applying tension to spring and spiral balances. Open the sash on its pivot. Insert screwdriver and turn until desired tension is achieved. Close the sash and tensioning up is done in no time at all. The tilting sashes can also be quickly and easily removed for any other maintenance jobs such as repair or painting.

Ecotilt™ classic timber sash styling

maintenance2Ecotilt™ is a technological breakthrough in terms of energy conservation and security. But it doesn't stop anyone from having beautiful windows with all the characteristics of a traditional timber sash window. The frame and sashes themselves are made of timber and traditional style staff beads, beading, horns and fittings are all incorporated to retain the look. Legislation

We have developed Ecotilt™ to operate effectively within the most up to date guidelines and regulations in force today.

This includes The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations which came into force on 6 April 2007. You can also see how well Ecotil™ performs under Part L of The Building Regs - Conservation of fuel and power.

Ecotilt™ also sidesteps any of the problems arising with cleaning and maintenance found in the latest Working at Height Directive thanks to its tilting and removable sashes.
